Hi,

I love all the tips that you gave for Basic Training. My biggest fear is the tower. My legs even get wobbly standing in a chair. Do you have any helpful tips to help me with the tower?

yes, I remember the tear gas chamber in boot camp. As the "educational recruit Petty officer" I got to go the week b4, to prepare the company, which I did.
You are absolutely right, it was a piece of cake, because I DID NOT RUB MY EYES, and the fresh air was wonderful. (that was 1954).
because I was a farm boy, played track & basketball, the physical part was a breeze for me, but those who were unprepared really struggled! I thought it was fun!
this was when boot camp was (navy) 16 weeks and included a whole week on the rifle range, a week firefighting & damage control, a week on whaleboatmanship, and lots of naval history movies. after 31 years, I still loved the navy, but had to move on. E-1 to o-5.
You are doing a good thing!!!

I have had a fear of heights all of my life and continue to have it today. The thing that got me over the tower was that my drill sergeant was right up there on top "motivating" me to make it down the side. Also, I knew a guy in college who had been in the Guards who was kind of a nerd and not to athletic, and I knew that if HE could make it through all of that stuff, I could too.
