“Women Welcome-But NOT CODDLED….” What year is this?! Are you serious? Wake up people!! Would you say all nationalities welcome but only to fill our quota or pass our tests? I am a woman who has been in the Fire Service for 10 years now, 4 years Active Duty and 6 years Civil Service and I have seen my fair share of Men who can not do this job, but you don’t see or hear anyone making comments to that effect!! I am Appalled that this was even allowed to be posed on a Military web site. There are already enough lingering issues with Women in the Fire Service internally, without someone verbalizing it in an article. The wording of this article is insulting to women period, let alone to the women who have served this country. Why would it be necessary to make such comment when Women damn well better be welcome or they will have discrimination law suits filed against them!
I'm the communications center guy who was gone for three years. Friends of mine were killed on the deployment overseas. I came back pretty okay, but while deployed my marriage died, my mother died, and my dog died. Just about all that was left of life as I knew it was my job. It's always a rough transition no matter what they say, and you never think you will be the guy to have a hard time. Employers like this are golden.
