Let me see. At the end of the day Mr. Lind has called General Petraeus a liar. Again, I would remind everyone on this site that Mr. Lind at one time in his career, worked for Gary Hart. Or was it Gary Hartpence?

What's your point? Ollie North was once a Marine. That doesn't mean all Marines are criminals and traitors.
re Mr. Lind working with Gary Hart - I'm not sure what this proves. Mr. Lind isn't a Democrat. Reading his articles makes me inclined to call him a Tory. He sure isn't a liberal, and his history is dead on in this case. Read Simplicius Simplicissimus, or (if you want a more modern take on the butchery of the 30 Years War) the novel 1632. A generation of kids raised in a war-torn ex-state is going to be nearly feral, like the child soldiers of Africa today. They are not prime material for a democratic, law-abiding state. Iraq is likely to be ruled more and more by loose alliances of armed gangs, which is basically what a feudal 'state' is.
Anything posted in the Washington Times and New York Times is junk anyway! All flower pickers. They think because a war is not going the way we would all like, it is lost. Like all military personnel know, war never goes the way you want it. We must adapt and overcome for the good of the nation. He made his own point when he went on and talked about other nations using children to fight in battles! It's nothing new! When your getting your a** kicked, you use every desperate measure possible! Boring!!!!!!!!!!! Report on something with sustenance! 800 children out of a possible oh I don't know, 3 million. Wow the war is lost! Left-wingers are just pissed cause they were always picked last in dodge ball! Here's my op-ed... Don't report on s**t unless your a** is there to see it for yourself!
I assume this means something deep, but I don't get it. It seems to me we need more lawyers involved in government, not fewer. The president's not a laywer, the VP's not a lawyer, Rumsfeld and Rice aren't lawyers, and despite his claims to the contrary, Gonzales was no lawyer either.

Exactly the same thing you wrote the last time you read one of this guy's columns. Maybe you think it passes for scintillating analysis, but it looks like an ad hominem attack to me. How about telling us what's inaccurate or just plain wrong about what he wrote? I read this article, saw that he referenced three different stories that should be of major concern to all of us, and all you can say is he worked for some candidate you didn't like over 25 years ago as if that somehow invalidates everything he's saying today. Try again.

I'm with you. If there were more people thinking like lawyers instead of as cheerleaders who believe that wanting it bad enough is the equivalent of obtaining it, then there would be a far more realistic approach to this situation. Moreover, when Petraeus's report "nibbles at the edges" of reality as Mr. Lind tells us, it's a legal mind which will focus on the bottom line and seek out the truth about what's really happening.
My only thought as I was reading this was the articles he quoted were AP articles! Hello I am saying that their is not truth to the main point of each but the problems listed and the "fact's" I am 100% sure are overstated at the very least. The 3 concerns are still real but come on.
As far a needing "statesman" statement I sat this we need any one of these elected senators and congressmen/women who have been around for more than two terms to go home!!!! The fact of the matter 99.99999% of these people are pwned and operated by interest groups of one kind or the other and are only concerened about getting re-elected so they can keep the "POWER AND MONEY AND THE MONEY AND THE POWER"....... So statesman they are not and we as a country are in trouble if things do not change.... and no HILLERY is not the change we needed...
I have a question! It's about FRG, has anyone ever heard of it? It's suppose to be where our troops are returning to the US, and our military does not have toothpaste, nor toothbrushs', and if they do not have a relitive waiting for them, they are put up on base without sheets or blankets to sleep on. Has anyone heard of this???

The Acronym FRG fits with the "Family Readiness Groups" organized by the Army.
The description you give, however, differ a bit from the official one
from FRG Leaders Handbook (you will need the Acrobat reader plugin to read it)"an organization of family members, volunteers, soldiers, and civilian employees belonging to a unit/organization who together provide an avenue of mutual support and assistance and a network of communication among the members, the chain of command, and community resources."
If you are in the army or concerned about someone who is you can find 'your' FRG here.
