RE: http://www.military.com/NewsContent/0,13319,163802,00.html
I sent a e-mail a long time ago to The Army Corps of Engineers about looking into using Plasma Generators over in Bagdad to do Three things: A) Provide extra needed power to the electrical Grid in the City B) Help Clean up the city by using the trash to fuel the Plasma generators C) Provide a serious testing ground for this technology to help possibly boost it's demand here in the United States as a serious source of Electrical Power generation. Yes, it's another one of "those" alternative power sources the the US should think about investing into if it works as well as advertised...Power, and less landfills. of coarse I never heard anything back from them... |

Strikes me that trash collection might have been a better vocation to be funding as opposed to neighbourhood watch.
But then why pick it up if there's nowhere to put it? Plasma incineration seems like a reasonable given the need for more generating potential. |

When I read the title I thought we were just going to start burning up the country, literally.
Everything in Iraq is trash. |

Seems that these technologies emerge only when convient. Why not here at local generating plants instead of using oil and gas? |

They could use this and it could power Baghdad if they get the trash from Baghdad city dump.

Funding is a big part of it and hey lets face it, if the the military uses it and likes it, then civis are more likely to be more accepting of it and to say, "well it works for them, why can't we have it?" Which makes a demand which makes the creators/engineers more money... It's called supply and demand... Gotta love America |

Well the military has been safetly using Nuclear power for years and yet there is much resistance to using it to power our nation and cut the dependancy on foreign fuel. It appears everytime an energy saving technology is discovered it is discussed, bought up and shelved. Whats Ironic is that energy abounds us in many different forms just waiting to be discovered and put to use. It can neither be created or destroyed and is lifes force. Yet it is the conrolling of the entire world and basically limited to fossil fuels by power brokers and self motived groups. It has been the basis of all wars. Greed and power. And we as Americans could have avoided many of the disasterous results had we heeded the forefathers and never allowed Government and Industry to align as one Since they would no longer represent the people. |

Just think if we put a mini-sized on of those in every house. That would save money on garbage collection fees and electricity bills for even the average citizen.
Then there are companies and hospitals. They could be generating their own power and possibly selling it back to the power grid, saving money and making money at the same time. From a business perspective, that's double your money back. Now, we just have to figure out how much garbage we actually have to use to make it feasible. |

OUTSTANG. NOW CAN WE GET THESE FOR MUNICIPAL USE? IT SHOULD MAKE THE "GREENIES" ORGASMS WHEN WE DON'T HAVE TO USE COAL AND DIESEL FOR ENERGY.

Tulsa Oklahoma already tried this. The plant shut down last year. It cost more to operate than it brought in. It cost a fortune to keep the boiler clean for good heat exchange..So, good luck....

This is an obvious to good to be true story. There has to be a catch and my guess is that there is a substantial environmental impact, otherwise we would all be using this to heat our own homes.
I say this is a great idea for a developing country at a time of war. But ultimately this is a band-aid solution. We really need to find a way to burn up politicians for fuel. If we can burn trash, we should be able to burn politicians since they are essentially one in the same. |

It makes me sick to know that are goverment is letting the oil companies run our country. Instead of the goverment or the people. These technologies have been around a long time. Look at Brazil need almost know oil anymore. With oil prices at 110 dollars a barrel, if we dont get energy cost lower and push hard as Americans to force these greedy f__king bastards to use the technology we have to stop relying on the middle east for oil we are going to see this country in a depression. Sad to say but all our politicians are not focused on whats best for America anymore as they fill thier pockets and allow corporate america decide our fate and no longer represent the people. Somewhere along the line The focus has turned to a world economy and whats best for the world. The only difference between a recession and a depression is if your the one who's unemployed sitting at the curb watching you house go on the block wondering wher the next buck is coming from. |
