Sad story, but newsworthy to the extent that is appears on Military.com??? I do not think so. This sort of thing happens all around this country of ours on too regular a basis. Just so happens the man was military......

Wait a minute.........?????

The Oklahoman newspaper reported that after arguing with her husband, a women left the house and then heard gunshots.

Air Force security forces, along with sheriff's deputies and other law enforcement officials responded to the scene, where they believed the man could have been holding hostages, the paper reported.

How do we know that she didnt kill them all, leave the house and call PD? I know that it's usually men that commit violence of this kind but, it's hardly unheard of that a mother would kill her own children.

Before we start casting aspersions around, lets wait until the investigation is complete before judging the guy as a POS. He may well be but lets wait and see.

I guess we need to wait for more details. The article was very short. We'll find out soon enough.

HRDKAS is correct. If this were a woman and 2 kids that were killed, the man would be a suspect with a story like that. If I heard gun shots while leaving and my kids were in there, you better believe I would be back in that house in seconds. My kids out-weigh any danger to me. You don't just keep going after hearing gun shots when your kids lives are in danger.

IFthe story is true, what a selfish scumbag. Had to kill the kids, what for? Too bad he didn't cut out the middle man & kill himself.

One possible motive, if he did it: to get back at her for whatever they argued about; to really hurt her where she cannot get "one up" on what he did. He did kill himself (if he did it).

It's good that we don't have to wait to work for the Post Office to go postal. Take the early out.

U r a genius. I was ready to condemn this individual, a uniformed serviceman. Then you made a critical point that she could have killed them then called the cops. Couple that with the comments by 6483958, if it were a woman with two kids that was killed, the man would be a suspect AND the statement "my kids out-weigh any danger to me". Any caring parent would have been back in that house, regardless of the state of mind to help their kids.....maybe this mother is the POS.

I'm here at Tinker, and there are a lot of unanswered questions. Tinker or General Reno here at Tinker likes to keep negative things about this base as hush hush as possible. I'd be surprised if any information is exposed. Last year a SSgt got caught slashing tires off base, and he shot himself because he couldn't deal with the punishments. Tinker never said a thing about it. This was an officer by the way and the base was on lock down for a couple hours.

I don't understand why people can be so selfish as to take the lives of innocent children, but if you are wacked out enough to take your own life, I guess you don't care at that point who you bring down with you. Revenge is a TERRIBLE thing and the mother will pay the ultimate price of losing her children permanantly. I don't care what happened, there was no need to kill the children. But you make a good point, what if SHE did it? More to come I hope... There is a news conference here at 1500 with updates. http://www.koco.com/news/15405413/detail.html

Oh, and on another note, it didn't make the military.com because he was a military member, it was because it happened in base housing. I can see no more guns allowed in base housing anymore now!

All over the local news here that there was an emergency protective restraining order issued against the husband, which stated that the granting Judge believed that he was a danger to the wife and the children on the 5th of February. The wife was also granted sole custody of the children. That was until another Judge receded the custody order ten days later. Stating that the children would better benefit from joint custody on a rotating basis of three days and four days with each parent. The wife was at the base to pick up the children from the husband when they had verbal altercations between them. Witnesses say that the Husband threw the wife out of the house and said he was calling base police, then slammed the door shut and locked it. All the blinds in the house were closed and gunshots were heard. The wife and several neighbors called the police after the gunshots. The base police then called the Oklahoma County Sheriffs office to request their assistance and tactical team for what they believed was a hostage standoff. . Nearly two hours later, the team gained entry into the home, where they found three people dead -- including two children, ages 4 and 8.

The dumb azz judge shoud be removed for this!

That's EXACTLY what I said, why did they wait 2 hours? They might have saved one or two of the kiddos. The restraining order is on newsok.com.

I've been retired a long time but, why wasn't the Base EST Team from the Security Forces Squadron used in this instance instead of waiting 2 hours for a civilian team? Isn't this what EST is for? Fellow cops, correct me if I'm wrong.

Not sure if TAFB has a current EST/SRT, but I was wondering the same thing. Ill have to ask around, but don't think it wise to post the answer here.
