Again asked, isn't that a major roll in the Marines duty, to protect U.S. Embassies? If I were to be threatened and then attacked, I would use escallation of force to protect myself and our property and shoot the attackers in the head.

Not surprised.....After Bush made that ludicrous recognition of Kosovo, he should have known embassy in Belgrade was gonna get trashed (Planned protests with over 1 mil people…WTF)........Guess now we have more reasons to demonize Serbs dough……

Very good point. If this was some Mid East country (Not counting Israel) we would have directly blame the government. Kind of like what happened to Benazir Bhutto and not blaming the new Pakistani dictator for not doing enough or anything at all. Marines do have a job however the government of the country was silent and that should be a sign to start defending! |

How about this?
1. All Serb US bank accounts froze. 2. Give all Serbs holding US passports 48 hours to condem their countries action or report to the nearest airport for homeward flights. 3. A freeze on all trade with Serbia. 4. Stop all forgien aid to them NOW. 5. Put a Marine Company at embassy not a Security Detachment. 6. Tell them one more incident will result in selected damage to their embassy in D.C. Do I seem Pi$$ed that they would only attack our embassy while other countries supported the same thing? YOUR DAMMED RIGHT I AM. |

The Marine Security Guard detachment answers to the embassy and are not free to engage at will.
We need a Teddy Roosevelt in the Oval Office to make these countries and their citizens understand that they have attacked United States soil! Of course our screwed up political situation prevents that option; any force would be used as a tool by the other side of the aisle for their own political gain...pathetic! |

  Well, acording to most of the world and a lot of Americans, everything bad that happens to people is Americas fault. I think recognizing Kosovo as an independant state goes right along with our policy of promoting democracy. Good for the Kosovars! We should have expected a backlash though. I think that is why the embassy was empty except for the security detachment. Oh well, it is our fault, like always, that a people wanted self-determination instead of being ordered around. So be it.
