The marines should pull out of Berkley. And the Federal goverment should with draw all federal funding. If Berkley is unwilling to support the effort of the armd forces they should not recieve any federal support.

I agree 100%. Either that, or once the Marines move out, send in the Army! Then, after they kick out the Army, send in the Air Force, then the navy, then the Coast Guard, then the FBI, let's keep them going!

Aviation in itself is not inherently dangerous, but like the sea it is terribly unforgiving of any carelessness, incapacity or neglect.

This could be a good recruiting tool. The chickenhawks and chearleaders may get ticked off enough to go there and enlist.

Package up Berkley and send them to Iran. Since when can a city decide who stays or not.

Angry Whip The fruits, nuts and granola out there like to sue - so sue the City of Berekley for violation of the USMC's freedom of speech by illegal interferance, and for violation of the citizen's of Berekley freedom of speech by governmental suppression of the USMC;p then have them arressted for inciting to riot for promoting interferance by a third party. Then cut off all Federal Funding to not only the city, but UC Berekley as well. You do not have to join, you do not have to participate, but you cannot interfere or condemn with those who protect your right to feel and speak as you wish!

AIR ASSAULT!

ANY AND ALL FEDERAL MONIES SHOULD BE SHUT OFF FROM BERKELEY... THE PINKO SOCIALIST BACK-STABBING JERKS.

Better yet, maybe we could sell Berkeley to the French.

Why not open a large reserve center there if that is no good then have the Marines go to work with their 9mm at their side.

Have I missed something? How is it the city council believes they have the right to stomp on the rights of the Marine Corp, or any other place of buisness out there? Have they lost there minds? The freedoms they hold so dear should be removed via charges of civil right violations. I think we should stand our ground and fight! The Corps' been up against much more intimidating opponents than these mary's.

If they lost just one source of Federal funding they, (the University of Berkley), would be "singing a different tune". Anyone know just how much money they get from the Department of Energy, alone. They have been the major contract employer to those that run our nuclear research facilities, for decades. Talk about hypocrisy!

This goes to show that the wimps and pussies of our country are welling to let the forces of evil destroy our country.

I agree with sunliner81--pull all federal funds, including shutting down UC Berkeley--which is state funded. I guess in Berkeley everyone should have rights except military personnel. Discrimination is supposed to be gone! Sure glad we moved and sold our home on Catalina Avenue a few years back! You can take the Marines out of Berkeley--but they will be the first to call when disaster hits, or riots are happening, or the gangs are attracted to this peaceful UNPROTECTED place. I think I will put the word out here in Southern California--don't like gang injunctions--go live free in Berkeley. Most police I know are retired military--i hope they all boycott serving in Berkeley. Hope you learn to shoot Berkeley city council members!

Any kind of discrimination is a CROCK; we had race discrimination by discriminating against the Blacks, gender discrimination by not allowing women the right to vote or letting them out of the kitchen and then the don't ask don't tell policy. This last which I agreed with during the time of my service but now see it as a waste of tax payers money during a time recession, war and our militaries ability to enlist qulified soldiers. Regardless of our country's current situation I now stand behind our nations gay soldiers and support them to be openly gay in the military for the sake of our recruiters and for the sake of our tax payers; not to mention it is their right just as it's their right to practice their sexual preference.

The cost of kicking soldiers out who admit to being gay is a burden on our tax payers. Those same qualified, trained and combat ready soldiers should be allowed to stay in the military. This would correct or lessen the tax burden and the enlistment quota for our recruiters not to mention possibly leaving the Marines Recruiting Station were it is.

Some might argue that gay conduct would have an effect on our warriors in combat; their right the effect is not enough trained and combat soldiers available to protect your back. Our gay soldiers may have a different personality or sexual preference then straight men but it's no different then that of most women. I'm homophobic to the point of not liking to see gay men take part in relationships with eachother which would be the consensus of most men but I bet none of them have a problem watching some women on women action especialy if it's not butch.

I'm not sure if I quite understand this.

They say they want them out, but never say WHY. Is this simply as arbitrary as "we're anti-war and you represent war" or did someone commit a crime?

If it's the former, they should move just off campus and pull funding.

If it's the latter, the Marine Corps should have volunteered to pop smoke and advance to the rear. Wink

I hate when a news article is purposfully ambiguous.

Alan!
