Once again congress will only settle and not go for what bush says...70 million for funding is only half of what bush requested, and their is the possibility of running out of money by spring...why cant the demo's pull the blinders off their eyes and see that we're winning and help out...it makes no sense why they're trying to bring people home, we have made so much progess in iraq and afghanistan and everyone now just wants to say ok its good enough we're going to leave and not fund the war anymore..its crap, total bulls## and everyone knows it....i only pray that a demo doesn't get elected in the white house this coming up year...go MCcain, people make the right choice please!!!
Paying for the wars in Iraq in Afghanistan in fits and starts undermines military planning and risks the gains made by American troops over the past year, he said during a Pentagon news conference.
One good way to get rid of aforementioned problem is for the Republicants to heed the will of the majority (of Congressional representatives) and set a definitive timetable for withdrawal from Iraq. Then the money will gladly be forthcoming.
Of all escape mechanisms, Death is the most efficient. ~~ H.L. Mencken
Mulder well said, but seriously i know im republican and all but i really dont think this is the time to try and cut george bush short of the funds that he needs to maintain this military production, etc...People dont realize we are winning and the democrats have their heads up their butts because all they want is to have total power.
The reduction mentioned in the story is the PLANNED end of the surge. The surge HAS to end because this admin has REFUSED to increase the size of the miltary enough for the current force level to be maintained much past the planned date. The comment about some additional reductions later next year (ie near the election) IF things go well was pure politics. You did note that of course there was no mention of any measurable criteria by which it could be determined if things are going well.
Help is on the way.. Force size is being increased. Less and later than I would've liked, but then again who the Hell am I? I absolutely believe that every effort should be made to get the Iraqi gov't off its ***, but that prob'ly oughta be done behind closed doors. I' just worry that the more the freaks know about what we're thinking the more they might be able to turn it to their advantage.
