Considering the absolutly dismal reporting of any sucesses in this war since 2006, this poll is phenominal. Despite the presidential campaign cycle, some positive information must be leaking somewhere. I wouldn't be surprised if congress starts an investigation to root out the "truth tellers".

Just another poll.
If the polls that show declining support for the war are not to be believed than neither is this one.... Roll Eyes

Haven't you learned from the members here at Military.com?

- Poll results that people agree with are, of course, accurate and legitimate.

- Poll results that people disagree with are, of course, incorrect and bogus.

I suspect the last discussion on polls pretty well killed this one. Hard to spend a couple of days arguing that polls are a liberal media plot and then cheer on a more positive one by the Associated Press-Ipsos.

Pretty sure I've seen the AP heavily criticized on here recently for being "liberal".

Well, you polling yourself, makes you a majority of one. Wow, what was that sound? Oh no, it was the sound of the logic train leaving the station and YOU missed it! Oh wait, I'm sorry, your train hasn't left yet, the one to knobville...

Did they take a poll of the troops in Irag? Not the troops that are living in the Palaces, but those that are actually out in the local areas going house to house and scrapping their buddies bodies off the streets.

We only know what we are being told by the Generals, President and his advisors that we are winning the War.

They need to publish the complete poll so we can read all the questions and answers, not just they questions they want to quote. Without the complete set of questions and who they asked the questions of (demographics, locations type stuff) you have to accept the pollster's spin on things.

The way the article reads indicates they polled in the only US, but can't be sure. And the people that are then polled got their information from the 'Generals, President and his advisors', and of course the Print and TV news. Most of the News Media in Iraq, reportedly , does not go outside the Green Zone or Base Camps. Of those that do go out with the troops, you can find that they are not always happy with the 'spin' their editors back in the States put on their stories.

There is an old quote that goes something like this:
'If you want to be a Liar, be a Politician'.
'If you want to be a dammed Liar, be a Statistician (Pollster)’

Now that we are gaining ground and violence is down to an all time low, it's time for the Iraq government to get off their duffs and take control of their country.

Well I'm trying to buy the property next door to you but I don't have enough cynism in the bank to afford it. I guess I'll just have to buy a place in realityville....

"The poll involved telephone interviews with 1,009 adults conducted from Dec. 3-5. It had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points."

I noticed that a similar poll taken a few days ago of Military families they asked about the same amount people, about 1000. Seeing as how America has about three hundred million people, I don't see how they can say that one thousand represent the majority of Americans, and then print it as if it is so. Like I always say, if you really want to know, do some leg work, go ask. I should have responded this way with that other "poll".

I would bet that most Americans hold this view.

This view that somehow, when we finally "win" the war, we will "go home".

You and I know better than that, don't we?

Those that advocated and supported the invasion of Iraq had their own idea of how "success" would be defined:

Success means permanent US military bases in Iraq.

Success means the world's largest US embassy in Iraq.

Success means McDonald's and Starbuck's on every street corner in Iraq.

Success means Exxon and Chevron extracting and refining the billions and billions of barrels of light, sweet crude oil in Iraq.

And if Iraq turns out to be a democracy, well all the better.

Wink

Tell us, oh wise one, how many you would have to ask to get a representative sample. Cool
