The F15 is 30 years old and the jet jockeys are still yanking the stick. If you continually put 7g's on that frame, something gotta give.

The Air force should have updated the F-4's. They were built in the 60's and some countries are still flying them.

This grounding/stand-down just goes to show you that we need to upgrade our weapons systems. The F-22A is a good start but we need more. The F-15 A through D models have already ventured past their service life dates and are really on borrowed time.

If it wasn't for the motivated blue suiters and civilians working their azz off to keep old airframes flying they wouldn't be. Hopefully this stand down won't last too much longer. Believe it or not, most aircraft subsystems break more often the less you fly the jet.
