Way to go U.S.N.!
Let's not forget the U.S.C.G., they have been conducting boarding training for the U.S.N.. Good show for both!!! Respectfully, SUNLINER81 |

I agree, GOOD JOB NAVY! Situations like this serve two functions: protect civilian shipping and provide target practice for American Sailors.

100% disability! It is fortuitious that this incident did not occur in US waters or, a serious lawsuit for distruction of private property would be filed against the Navy before the smoke cleared. |

I'll bet the pirates left on the North Korean vessel were begging to be taken into US custody, no?

It is an old tradition of the sea that there are no national flags when it comes to helping sailors in distress. I'll bet that was an interesting meeting after the rescue- DPRK sailors and the US Navy. A great opportunity for a little micro-diplomacy. |

Way to go Navy! Protecting international waters helps protect everyone in the longrun, including shipping and cruise ships that could have Americans on board or have some sort of commercial connection. It is good to catch these idiots at anytime or anyplace.

Two items I saw lately concerning pirates.
One was on National Geographic Channel in which a small liner came under attack by pirates. They had a sound system designed to send out super loud, high pitch sounds that deter the pirates. It worked. The other was in American Legion Magazine concerning Blackwater type security outfits specificly design to counter potential pirates. |

Agreed,I'm sure in a situation such as that DPRK sailors weren't communists at that, just grateful to fellow sailors. |

"Earlier this month, the Navy added "maritime security" to its list of priorities laid out in its new maritime strategy. Maritime security includes intercepting terrorists and smugglers, deterring pirates and keeping commercial shipping routes safe, he said."
Um, when was this NOT part of the Navy's mission? |
