However, he acknowledged that U.S. influence with NATO ally Turkey was limited, particularly after a House committee passed a resolution describing the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Armenians during the waning days of the Ottoman Empire as a "genocide," infuriating Ankara, which has threatened repercussions.

"It makes it harder," McCormack said, referring to the resolution.

And our enemies smile.

Anyone think it's a coincidence that the Democrats passed a resolution on something that happened 90-some years ago just when we needed Turkey's help?

It's a sad state of affairs when the US Congress has a vested interest in US Foreign policy failing.

So, what does a vote cost? Ask our brothers and sisters in arms, that question.......

Is Turkey supposed to sit on their hands and let the Kurds cross their boarder and kill it's soldiers and kidnap others, which are most likely dead by now, at their leisure? What would we do if Mexico or Canada had done that to us? We might go about it differant, but wouldn't we want justice for our dead? If the Kurds can't police their own, somebody better! Angry Whip

The PKK crossed the border and killed 17 Turkish soldiers over the weekend. How do you not allow them to go after the perpetrators? Either the Iraqis or our troops have to crack down on these terrorists. If we don't, the Turks will come in with all guns ablazin.

Do you mean like the Pancho Villa Expedition/Punitive Expedition/Mexican Expedition? I believe the US spent nearly a year chasing Pancho Villa and his forces around Mexico after they killed 16 US soldiers in New Mexico.

Tanks, I do think Turkey has the right. But, with the dumb resolution that was trying to be pushed, they sure hurt our stand on a joint operation or conviencing Turkey to let us go after the PKK. Personally, I would like to see joint ops which allows Turkey in on nabbing the PKK. With our seeming fair weather friendship (thanks to that ill thought out resolution), we are hampered in effectively influencing a workable solution IMHO.
