The al-Qaida presence in Iraq is severely crippled, prompting some to declare victory over the group, U.S. military officials and the White House said Monday.
I have not heard or read of any named "official" declaring a victory. I have heard liberal pundits eager to use good news of progress in Iraq as justification for accelerated withdrawal, however. If I missed such a declaration, I would appreciate a citation identifying the individual. It would be helpful to know who the idiots are.
It is not "official", but it is looking great. When it is, it will be a huge disappointment to the Democrats who want us to lose, so they can take the White House.
An outstanding job has been done in both Iraq and Afghanistan. However, it ain't over 'till it's over. Victory in those areas means leaving behind a stable and friendly government with the ability to protect it's citizens and sustain itself.
Just because some un-identified "officials" have declared victory over AQ doesn't mean it's actually true.
AQ has proven to be extremely resiliant. Based on the history of Islamic wars, specifically those Mohhamed himself engaged in, whenever the Jihad "commander" offers a "truce" or a time out it's really only the proverbial carrot stick dangling at the end of a branch. It's a signal they have suffered extreme damage and need time to recoup and regroup.
Now would be the wrong time to leave Iraq. Now is the time we should be pounding AQ even harder and working ourselves into N. Waziristan to destroy the AQ community there.
Our troops have achieved astounding success in the past three months; another three months may put Al Qaeda on life support and then three more after that to pull the plug on AQ in Iraq. Then, perhaps "nation building" can begin.
I can't help but remember the "The light at the end of the tunnel"... That one turned out to be the headlight of a flippin uncomming Freight Train.. I think I'll just wait a little while before I start counting my chickens.
Maybe this is a good way to start "tagging" idiots in Washington so they can be wrapped up in nice little coats with longs sleeves and sent to a quiet place. AQ is not finished...and probably wont be even once we do finally get out of Iraq... I'll let you in on a little secret "AQ is a Terrorist Organization"...who said they played by the rules? Yeah, they've taken some serious hits...but unless we kill every one of them and then go back and put a bullet in their head just to make sure their all dead...they will still exhist. By the way, I'm very PROUD of our troops and their accomplishments...but AQ is not a regular type of enemy you can just declare victory over because of numbers. Those zooheads that think that need to get their head examined...or do they like making public fools of themselves? Support Our troops till they ALL come home.
I need to correct mmy last line..." ALWAYS SUPPORT OUR TROOPS..ALL THE TIME!" Sorry to anyone I might have offended by putting the word "Till" in my last sentence...I was crazy what can I say...
Oh I can hear politics in the air!! I would hope it was true and we had defeated these varmints but they can set back and regroup very quickly. Victory is a little premature. But on the other hand----good going warfighters!!

I think they'd rather have a win in Iraq than the White House. Status Quo, or a loss, puts the next resident, of whichever stripe, squarely behind a large 8 ball.
I've been saying for 4 years now, let's put PeeWee Hermin in as the Commanding General and; "JUST SAY WE'VE WON THE WAR AND GO HOME". I wonder why it took these numbskulls so long to figure this out? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH LMFAO This article just proves my point, we have finally evolved to the point where we have the 'blind leading the blind'.

Perhaps this declaration of impending victory was issued by VP Cheney from a secret location where he hangs out. Not too long ago he reported insurgents were in their last throes. Unfortunately, that turned out to be baloney.
In a way it is kind of sad. Those little bastards put up some kind of a fight. I hope we go into Iran next and kick their butts. Looks like the cold war is on its way back and our boy in Venezuela is still stirring things up down there. Mean while back here in the states its the same ole same ole. Stocks up one day. Down the next. Fuel prices up, gang violence up, rape, murder, hate crimes up also. Only one thing to do. Buy a 52" Sony 1080p HD TV next month.
You cant believe anything the Army politicos put out information wise, nothing. What they are saying now is equivalent to Cheney's "the insurgency is in its death throes" comment. Utter nonsense.
Sounds like the new Nixon/Kissenger plot. I cannot think of a better way to get out of Iraq than this administration claiming a negotiated withdrawal after reaching an agreement with the Malaki government. Appears to me, this administration is unraveling and losing control of the decisions being made regarding Iraq. I would say there are maybe a handful of people in the adminstration now supporting the prez and VP on Iraq with the remainder working to get us out and who are standing their ground against the small cadre of war supporters.

Better start getting your grandchildren ready to deploy.
