Salute! Applause Applause Applause
Many Thanks to the ingenuity and persistance of that soldier and especially his mom.

Concerning the shipping problems, the same resistance occured a few years back when I and many parents working with Move America Forward attempted to send portable A/C units to the troops. The refrigerant was treated as a hazardous material. It took a combined letter writing campaign and petitons to the USPS to get this policy modified and prevent another holdup of simple solutions. Yet that poor lady had to overcome the same(?) bureaucracy to accomplish her mission. Honors to Her...

Hopefully NO SCAMMERS try to make a profit of this stuff being sent there, if anything I'd expect to see some Shock & Awe vids of Silly String being used not only for boobytrap detection but giving some children over there some safe entertainment Smile.

If a tree falls in a forest and lands on a politician, even if you can't hear the tree or the screams, I'll bet you'd at least hear the applause.

I am surprized that DoD has not contracted out a study and feasability contract on this. Some bandit contractor could come up with the M2007X1A Bomb Detector, String, Silly, capable of detecting, bomb, wire, trip, @ 10,000 feet. Have a good day!~! Wink Cool

If its simple why make something complicated? I cant see any high tech counter measures for something as primitive as trip wire.

I didn't know about the silly string. But this is another typical case in which our troops need something and it take loved ones at home to get it to them instead of the Pentagon and the government doing it's job. If the troops say they need something, it should be sent ASAP no red tape, no bs...get it to them!!

Improvise, Adapt, Overcome adversities is Our Warriors forte'...

They (Our Warriors) are magnificient in their deeds and commitment as OUR Sentinels, despite denigration by those (of us) that fear them, or do not care to know them...

The sheep hate the shepherd's dog, but know that he protects them from the wolf...

GOD BLESS OUR WARRIORS

i remember seeing an article on this before and its a great idea but some good points were made, such as keeping this on the DL so the enemy isnt able to counteract on it..? but whatever, too late now.

Amen. It shouldn't take an act of Congress to save American lives one would think that would be first and foremost on the agenda from our so called (Silly) leaders.

Most likely the FUBAR is because some select people needed time to buy stock in the company to fill their own cofers.... same ol' same old.

If it works get it in their hands... what the hell is the problem.

This reminds me of the issue of the body armor and the prohibition against using anything not issued, even if it didnt work as well as other available better functioning equipment.

What a bunch of ..... AAAUUGGHH!! Off with their heads!

Cool, the right wing mfg's of silly string can charge 5x more and outsource the stuff to be made in China - to maximize their profits. Great job guys. While we are at it why don't we outsource 2 out of 3 branchs of government to China. Smile

Using silly string as a bomb/IED detector…sounds funny…long as it works…right??? Hey whatever the soldiers, troops, etc… and us (Marines) can use to help us do are job safely and come back home. I wanted to thank everyone that came together and try to get all of the silly cans shipped to Iraq/Middle East…United States Parcel Services can be a pain in the a**! America need to wake up and really help support the military and their cause…we are fighting for the people back home…even if you don’t support the war on terrorism, Iraqi Operation Freedom, etc… you should still support the ones fighting…did you ever stop and think maybe some fighting the fight don’t support us being over there in Iraq/Middle East…but someone has to fight the fight…therefore if you are not fighting the fight over in Iraq/Middle East or wherever…then you should be supporting us in any possible way you can…don’t ever think you support won’t make a difference because it will!

Sincerely,
Lcpl. Jones

The story of the silly string first came out a while back. I would have never dreamed that it would have taken her this long to find someone to ship it for her! Why couldn't the Navy ship it for her if they are worried about the cans?

If you ship arms and munitions to a war zone, why can't you ship silly string. I would also reccomend sending cans of spray pork fat as the
enemy detests pork.
