I hope that he can sue that POS Murtha. He is totally worthless. And I am also deeply ashamed to know that he is a fellow Marine.

Mornin' Marines.

Perhaps the Marine Corps should sue Murtha???? At least take away his right to call himself a Marine! And the right to use "Semper Fi."

Semper Fi guys, in my book you are the best!

Many branches but one brotherhood!

It's a war zone. Stuff happens.Sometimes you just have to accept it and live with it. And the whole thing has always raised huge question marks with me. I've always believed those guys were simply doing their job to the best of their ability. It would be a shame to see them punished for doing that. So lets hope the General gets on and makes the right decision and the whole thing will go away . . . Smile

Murtha will never apologize. The MoveOn Democrats types don't do that. Murtha was honored by Code Pink. They do not like us in the military and they prove that over and over. Those great Marines would be justified in taking him to court to get him to take back his chilling words--"In Cold Blood".

Nothing but political wrangling by people who have never been on or in the field.

I mean, look at the picture. Does that boy look like somebody who would maliciously kill civilians for the fun of it? It's war, and there is something called "collateral damage". Now it's bad if you're part of that, but just something that happens in situations like that. You do your best . . . and that's all anybody can expect. If it was as bad as some folks are trying to make out, well, stuff like this would be happening every day . . .and to some extent it is, but it's not our soldiers who are doing it. When you look at the whole incident, well, there are huge questions, and I certainly wouldn't want to appoint myself judge and jury. Smile

Sounds like you've got "issues" but this ain't the place to air them. We all know injustice happened back then. But that doesn't mean it's happening now. Smile

There has been entirely too much political/civilian intervention during this war. People die in war - innocent civilians and otherwise because "War is Hell."
I hope the legal aspect of this situation goes away so that these men can try to get on with their lives.
The persecution of the U.S. Military by Americans is shameful.

It's not happening now? These soldiers, as much as I think they're getting the shaft on this one, should have proceeded using the full extent of their training as opposed to the "kill em all let God sort em out attitude' most marines have. You guys fight your butts off but you really do clear a bldg like they say you do. As far as those "things" not happening now, well brother, I don't know which side of the rock you want to stick your head under but there is more racism and bias in the military world than you can imagine......white folks and uncle toms just hide it better.

How come There haven't been any reports of Murtha being "Booed" when he speaks publicly. Is he so universally admired that other former Marines let him off scot free?

We all know racism's around, we all know bias is around and prejudice and all the rest . . .doesn't mean we have to accept it as the order of the day. You do what you can to combat it when you find it. And racism, bias and prejudice cuts both ways . . . Smile Don't mean it's right, injustice never is, that's why it's injustice. But that don't mean we have to accept it. Smile

Speaking as a retired Infantryman and former professional Army Officer I cannot begin to credit some of the comments on this board.

Comments such as "It's a war zone. Stuff happens" are a fairly chilling reminder of why the US Military is performing so poorly in the conduct of Counter-Insurgency operations in that theatre.

Killing civilians without cause is murder, not manslaughter, not negligent homicide, not an accident! Do you understand that this is counter-productive to the Commander's Intent of conducting counter-insurgency warfare!! That is, it is professionally stupid aside from the criminality of it!!

To actually speak of trying to strip a decorated marine of his status as a marine is deeply repugnant to anyone with an ounce of self-respect or even a hint of professionalism or esprit de Corps.

Does the comment "Does that boy look like somebody who would maliciously kill civilians for the fun of it?" mean that clean cut Nazi's could not have been responsible for 6 million deaths, or that handsome Serb's could not have conducted ethnic cleansing? For God's sake grow up and go and find out what the rules of war are!!

The Laws of Armed Conflict were established and agreed on by civilized nations for a reason. To protect civilians, prisoners and other persons who were not combatants. When you take yourself and your comrades away from those rules you are actually worse than the enemy you are fighting because you know what is right, what is legal, what is ethical and what is moral. If you choose to behave like an unprofessional killer of innocents then you deserve to be tried and to wear the punishment.

You, who have condemned someone who has stood up against these type of war crimes, bring discredit on yourselves, your Corps and your nation. I have no respect for you.

Retired Australian Army Officer
