Why can't these people get their heads out of their collective azzes and get "good" ROE for this combat zone. Same war, different terrain; same mission, different enemy; same incident(s), different idiots.

If the military wants troops in a COMBAT ZONE.Let these guys do their job. What JERK,armchair commando, decided to bring murder charges against soldiers for doing their job???.You're there to kill the enemy, not kiss his ***.The military has really changed for the worse. No wonder enlistment is down. These poor soldiers now have to worry if they'll get a murder rap for doing what they're trained to do.Really, some of these higher-ups,in the government are pure idiots.I sure as hell wouldn't re-up under these conditions.Don't fight this war like it was in Nam, Kill these rag heads and get over with. Stop playing games with our soldiers lives.

When is this country going to stop putting men on trial for performing the missions that they have been assigned? I guess that pretty much sums up why no senior noncom or officer is going to be behind the trigger on a sniper mission, doesn't it? Doo-doo does tend to roll downhill!

When we get rid of the ACLU, Lawyers, and the Congressional leaders who want to destroy our military...

The acquittal was handed down based on the evidence at hand...the targets were IDd as terrorists, thus fair game to be taken out. Our trained snipers were just successful at doing their jobs...end of story....

Exactly why he took the extra step of planting evidence, to cover his bottom. What a state of affairs when good soldiers have to worry about their kills to the point that they have to take CYA steps.

You can bet soldiers are thinking twice or taking extra time because of this before squeezing the trigger which in turn is certainly going to make the fight inefficient and cost some of our soldiers lives.

If we have to be there, then let the boys do their jobs, otherwise if we're going to analyze every engagement and judge it in the media then get out now, we'll never make progress.

There seems plenty to this story that were not being presented with.
I dont like the idea that there are differing stories of the same event, that there is evidence being planted, that it is unclear as to whether they had orders or not, etc....
Besides, when faced with a moral question the individual must strongly weigh the right and wrong and do the right thing. Trying to cover up your actions indicates a guilty mind.

I would like to see more about this matter.

But, I am satisfied that justice has prevailed, I am sure that the case was thoroughly examined by both the prosecution and defense. God bless America.

I am very glad that he was acquitted!! But I want to know who the stupid jack *** is that brought the charges in the first place. I am retired Air Force Security Police/Security Forces and currently a Civilian Police Officer. That place is a COMBAT ZONE with an enemey that does not have the balls to wear a uniform and fight like men!!!! Calling a justifiable killing murder is like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500!!!! What is wrong with these people?? Sounds like our Officers today dont have the brains to pour piss out of a boot with the instructions on the heel!!!! Lets do something right and get some Officers that are not stupid!!!

Please inform us as to what these horrible ROE are.

Everyone keeps going on about the ROE but never mentions what rules they think we are opperating under. The last line of every ROE brief is 'There is nothing in these rules that denies you the inherent right to self defense'.

When we were coming over our ROE was similar to a peace keeping mission..Of course mission was accomplished at that time. However, when we crossed the berm into Iraq it changed. But now
this quote is spot on

When I was 12, I used to snipe birds and then run outside, get 'em and toss them in the doghouse. Think I would have made a good Army sniper "tactician"?

I think I like the school of thought that sniping should be restricted to officers because it was too morally-damaging for the enlisted man.

These guys carry a lot of baggage. God forgive them.
