Ted Kennedy, Jack Murtha and the rest of the anti-Vietnam, anti-military, anti-"pull the chick out of the car before you save yourself" crowd want these Marines convicted and brought out to the middle of town's square as an example of how evil the U.S.A. is. That's why they've called our troops murderers, thugs, compared them to Nazis and the like. The Marines reacted appropriately. The prosecution's key witness crumbled on the stand a few days ago and admitted that there actions were appropriate and that he would have done the same. A plea bargain? Whatever... Give 'em hell and let the prosecution, Kennedy and Murtha walk away with their tails between their legs! Semper Fi.
This Lt is showing why he is a Marine. Rather then give up his integrity, he will go down fighting, and save his honor. I hope it all works out for him. He needs some support men.

After reading the article, I can but wonder WHEN, the peoples of Mass. will wake up and get rid of Ted Kennedy, and not allow him a free-ride on his family name alone.
HE should be the one on trial for letting the girl die in Chappequidic (sp?).

Good for Grayson. Lawyers are lawyers no matter if in uniform or not. They will not stop until they control the courtroom and battlefield. The only reason they have any sign of a case is because they twisted the arms of a enlisted to tesstify against his fellow Marine. Lawyers, the lesser of the species, and they're proud of it.
As far as all the marines involved in the Haditha incident, I don't believe they should receive any awards for that day. But, what they did does not merit any prosecution either. These men are trained for a rural setting style of combat, not urban street/house clearing. When our fighting men faced the same setting during WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Grenada, and Somalia, the outcome was basically the same as Haditha. If you watch SWAT teams take down houses and buidings, they do so with the expertise afforded them by the extensive training for that particular procedure. It is unfair to ask of these marines to do a job that they are illprepared for and then prosecute them for a negative outcome. People like Murtha make me sick that think they are doing justice by driving a stake through the heart of the USMC by prsecuting these fine warriors. I wish he would take one day of his precious life and go on patrol with these people who are making his freedom posible. May the powers at be see through all this and do the right thing.

Sounds pretty clear-cut, he did it or not sort of thing. The story that it was an all caused by an IED got out somehow, and didn't get corrected for months because somebody didn't do their job. I am happy to accept the court's determination about who it was, but it is clear that this young gentleman didn't exactly distinguish himself in the process, whether or not he bears any criminal liability.
Taking a camera on a combat mission is a no no. Thats what combat photographers used to be for. Did anyone out there ever see the movie PLATOON? Remember the Sgt. checking his men prior to going out on a night recon mission? Seems like this new Army and Marine Corps needs to go back to junior NCO school.

I DON'T EXPECT AMERICAN CIVILIANS TO UNDERSTAND WHY CERTAIN THINGS HAPPEN IN COMBAT.THEY HAVE NO CLUE. THAT'S WHY WE PROTECT THEM.
