Some powerfully scary stuff, but it appears this group had been bungling along and had attracted notice some time ago. It is doubtful that they would have gained access to Ramstein Air Base since the security there has been very tight following the 1980's bombing by a German terrorist group. They may have been looking for a softer target, but were thankfully apprehended before they could achieve their aims. Good work, Germany!
According to the press, they were considering other targets frequented by Americans. The fact that they had so much Hy Pro is scary. The Germans appear to be on the ball here.
Gitmo's too good for them and why waste our taxes looking after them. A quick trial and execution would send a powerful message to all who plan terriorist activities. The darn Muslims need to be taught a lesson.
Bravo Zulu, the German authorities did well and scuttled a potential threat against innocent lives. The fact that two of the three were German converts to the "cause" says much about how the terrorist networks turn towards willing "domestic recruits" to penetrate our societies to do grievous harm, a very deadly game continues to be played. Make an EXAMPLEout of every one of them B******S. Honors to all our Men, Women in all services and their (and our) Families.
I think the world is learning how to deal with terrorists and terrorism as years go by. I give credit to the Bush family for taking a firm stance against it. No other Government prior to the Bush family took the investigation to the source. Good work on Germanys part in being aware of Group and getting them off the streets.
Officials said the solution of hydrogen peroxide, stored in a hide-out, could have been mixed easily with other additives to produce a bomb with the explosive power of 1,200 pounds of TNT.
"This would have enabled them to make bombs with more explosive power than the ones used in the London and Madrid bombings," Joerg Ziercke, the head of the Federal Crime Office - Germany's equivalent of the FBI - said at a joint news conference with Harms.
Explosive power, possible, and possibly very nasty. "Mixed easily", on the other hand, is a bit on the optimistic side. You might try this link for more comments on 35% H2O2. http://www.dickdestiny.com/blog/dickdestiny.html
At least we know that our bases on foreign land have a government that is on the look out for terrorists. Should make some of our military men and women sleep better, and more alert when awake. I agree that Gitmo is not worth the effort. Let the Germans interogate them for info since they can more than likely use more brutal interogation procedures. Get names and get busy.

??? I hope you are only speaking about the US here. Otherwise it would expose a lack of knowledge of politics outside the US. Bush wasnt the "initiator" of some sort of international anti-terror campaign nor can he be seen as the teacher of antiterror procedures.
Maybe he could have been but his and Rumsfelds goddamn arrogant way of communicating with other countries (especially europe) just ruined it. Europe is full of nations with extensive experience in that field but the US administration prefered confrontation instead of cooperation.
Declaring Bush to be the wise and respected Guru of the global anti-terror campaign is just over the top. Hybris is a poison to international cooperation, but unfortunately that would be the best weapon to beat terrorism.
