What's the big deal? Its not like they could have sent escorts to meet our SR-71's back in the day. It's a hollow jesture that brings back the nostagia of the cold war era. Wink

I think the Russians have something sinister going on. They have been acting funny. Why will they be worry about a Missile Defense System if their system can defeat it if put in Europe.

Coffee break is over. Time to get back to the cold war. As for that missile defense system I remember seeing Bush offering to share the system with the russians. So why all the fuss. Are the Russians secretly backing terrorism?

Putin is having USSR superpower flashbacks. First it was the announcement of missiles that couldn't be shot down. Then getting pissed at W for wanting to install a missile defense system in Eastern Europe(still wonder why about that one?). Now Russians playing chicken with there bombers.
No ulterior motives here. Roll Eyes

And just when I was missing the cold war. At least now they wave in a more or less friendly fashion. USed to be if they waved at all, it was with a finger that was sure to get you in fight in any bar.

Welcome back, TU-95! A lot more relaxed than in the Cold War, I'm sure!

I have to admit, there must be stuff going on in the world that we do not know about. I would not worry too much about the Russians.

Ever see the movie 'Canadian Bacon'? I liked it when our government went to the Russians and asked if they wanted to start the cold war up again.

Aw heck, Russia is just trying to be nostalgic. Its been a long time since they got to play such games with the west. After all, it has been the US and NATO jets that have been doing the incursions into Russian and other CIS states territorial waters/airspace for many years without any response so now that they can fly again, they will. It’s not a threatening gesture at all, its just Russia’s way of saying “Weeere baaack! and we are finally an international player again”. Cmon, they are Tu95s for God’s sake, what kind of realistic threat do they pose?

Really? Like the US would really share any technology regarding the system. Given the dismal failure the 200+billion ABM system has been so far, why would Russia want to share in that?

When I walked into my GRANDPARENT' s house while I was their visiting
giving my GRANDPARENT' s a hand in the front yard. I also said, " Look at
what they are doing. "

It wasn't long ago they couldn't even get those plane in the air becasue their economy was so bad, now they are flying and starting back to their old ways a nd we say it's no big deal or not a threat? Those same planes were a threat not so long ago and they still are a threat. Just becasue something is old doens't make it obsolete. Look at the AC-130 gunship, mainly 60s technology and still devestating.

Europe wouldn't need a missile defense shield if the Russians would stop selling nuke technology to the Iranians! Mad If missile parts fall over mother Russia, that's just too damned bad.

If they entered British Air Space I would have shot them down. If they entered our Air Space I would have shot them down. What could they really do?

Some how I doubt that we would actually shoot! Too many people would claim that shooting them down was uncalled for and that we are just too trigger happy. The poor Russians had no intention to cause us harm we were too qick to react and now the Russina government is going to be upset with us.
