With robot planes coming on scene I am left wondering about the posibilities that present themselves in shows like the terminator series lol. Will the machines fight backonce science gives them the ability to become self aware. Assuming that is even possible.

This reminds me of the A-12 Avenger II stealth aircraft that was canceled. Hopefully, this design will work out better than the Flying Dorito did!

Man... All it needs now is a oscillating red "eye" in that engine inlet Wink.... 'course, that'd reduce its stealthiness.

Another good movie would be "Stealth" ... saw it 3 times on Encore network and loved Jessica Biel's waterfall seen each time

The biggest potential I see in these autonomous craft is theoretically you could have an airframe pull maneuvers impossible for a human to survive.

UAVs are the wave of the future.Period.The sooner the Navy comes to grips with this the better.these things can deploy aboard CVN-78 or perhaps a new class of carrier devoted strictly to UAV operation.Smaller and faster and CHEAPER.Leave the Carrier battle group free to respond to more immediate threats.Add stealth capability and these things can really ruin a Tangos' day.Go Navy !!!

AMAZING, Why do not the leaders get together & agree which country, system, is going to be running things & STOP this foolishness called WAR? If WE are going to push our system WORLD WIDE we should do it with FORCE & not a lot of TOYS like this. Either get SERIOUS or GO HOME & CLOSE THE DOOR 'BORDERS' BEHIND US. REX

35 years ago in the New Mexico Desert the Air Force and some Military-Industrial Contractors were flying F-102's by remote control. This was some of the research that made the UAV's & UCAV's possible. Once computer systems were scaled down to a size to make that research into a practical vehicle.
Imagine what their working on now. I think we would all be in shock & awe..

Ok so if no pilot is requred to be sitting inside the plane then would we still have to have them at all ? I mean some of the best gamers are enlisted ! And these will be no more then computer joy stick controled games.

It might be ok, reduce the officers down to one or two per squadron and a college degree in basket weaving would no longer be required to fly them.

Good idea tlwasson....lets make ossifers obsolete. My 20 year old could probably fly rings around these guys while seated in the comfort of an air conditioned trailer behind the E-club at Oceana. Now if I could just convince the little SOB to enlist !!!

I don`t know about the Navy pilots, but I`ll bet 10 bux the USAF pilots, sitting back at Nellis AFB, will be wearing their Nomex Bags, so nobody will mistake them for working stiffs! BTW, I am a retired O-5 Mustang, non pilot!
