“The truth from an old Army Warrant Officer - that is an oxymoron, right?”

Happy birthday all you “Coasty” out there. We are proud of you and thankful for your brave service and a special “hi” to a special Master Chief at the PSC in Topeka.

At least that’s the way this old soldier sees it.

WOPA! If you have to ask, you wouldn’t understand! And, if I told you … well you know how that goes. Cool

A listening ear, a caring heart, an open mind and an extend hand may be all I can offer, but they are yours without charge or judgment.

From Aztec shore to Arctic zone,
To Europe and Far East.
The Flag is carried by our ships,
In times of war and peace.
And never have we struck it yet,
In spite of foe-men's might,
Who cheered our crews and cheered again,
For showing how to fight.

We're always ready for the call,
We place our trust in Thee.
Through surf and storm and howling gale,
High shall our purpose be.
"Semper Paratus" is our guide,
Our fame, our glory too.
To fight to save or fight to die,
Aye! Coast Guard, we are for you!

“You have to go out; you don’t have to come back”

“So that others may live”

Happy Birthday US Coast Guard!

Well done Coast Guard Applause

A prayer for these brave lads:

The Lord is my Pilot, I shall not drift;
He lighteth me across the dark waters;
He steereth me in steep channels,
He keepeth my log book,
He guideth me by the Star of Holiness.
For His Name’s sake.
Yea, though I sail ‘mid the thunders and tempests of life,
I will dread no danger, for Thou art with me,
Thy love and Thy care, they shelter me.
Thou preparest a harbour before me in the homeland of eternity.
Thou anointed the waves with oil - my ship rideth calmly.
Surely sunlight and starlight shall favour me on the journey I take,
And I will rest in the port of my God for ever.

Cry Haddock! Let slip the Cod of War! Captin Birdseye.

LEARNED A LESSON FROM THE COAST GUARD.
Back in the early 1960's I was a seaman on a U.S. Navy distroyer tender. A Coast Guard Ice Breaker was ties up at the same pier along side of us. I yelled across to a Coast Guardsman on the bridge of the ice breaker. "Hay shallow water sailor, where ya been?" His reply did a good job of taking the wind out of my sails. "Been to McMurdo Station, Antarctica, where you been?" That was the last time I use the term (Shallow water sailor).
Lesson learned.

Happy Birthday Coast Guard, and all Coasties on ship, ashore and in the air. May God set your course and mind your helm when you go in harms way.

From Richard and Elizabeth, prior Navy and Air Force, and present Coast Guard Auxiliarists, District 7, 10-1.

The Coast Guard are the least recognized of the Armed Forces but the fact is since Vietnam they have been in the fight where ever there is water! When there is no war they still are on full alert to protect our shores 24/7, God bless em.

Hats off to all past, present and future members of the Coast Guard. You have a tough and usually thankless job in peace time, and a tougher one in war. Semper Paratus says it all.

The only ones that use the "SEMPER" logo in the US Armed Forces are the Coast Guard and the Marine Corp! SEMPER PARATUS=ALWAYS READY and SEMPER FIDELIS=ALWAYS FAITHFULL. But no branch of service deserves any special recognition as they all put their lives in harms way.
