You think that military.com is trying to keep this story alive by posting at least 3 stories regarding this in one week?

Maybe, but it's better news then Lindsay Lohan or a Anna Nicole Smith story.

That is exactly it. And people honestly think that politicians in DC aren't playing politics. This is the perfect example of it.

Maybe, just maybe they wouldna dragged his unfortunae demise through the Media and Army Awards MUD, with false reports if he weren't so famous.

It looks as if you guys are blaming the witnesses to a homicide and not the perps.

Why bring the truth out to anything if that's the case.

Are you guys saying if he were still alive, his family would be justified?

"it happens all the time" may be true but as an excuse to a family?

I only hope the highest levels aren't involved.

Wow! Punishment of officers for their misdeeds. This really is news. Usually, the top brass just skewers a few NCOs and forgets about it.

No Bill.

How many investigations is necessary for the death of one GI? If Pat wasn't an NFL player would this be an issue? How about the firings? How many investigations is necessary for that? There are over 300 investigations started by this congress. When is enough enough?

If this isn't a political witch hunt, then I don't know what is.

Edited for typo.

Exactly. If they wanted to have ANY political credibility WHATSOEVER, they could have examined the "general" subject of how the military assesses and reports friendly fire deaths. They could have left our hero Pat Tillman OUT of the equation.

He is NO more important than any other soldier once on the battlefield, and they have given the impression that his death IS more important than other fallen heroes.

But OH NO. They want headlines, not justice for ALL the fallen. What they are doing is NOT oversight, it is grandstanding, PERIOD.

Make NO mistake, their investigations into Tillman's death is NOT about Tillman, it is ALL ABOUT THEM, AND POLITICAL POINTS.

DISGUSTING AND REPREHENSIBLE. THEY MAKE ME SICK.

“The truth from an old Army Warrant Officer - that is an oxymoron, right?”

The highest ranking person, at level, who knew that this was a cover up and did nothing to correct it should be punished and the punishment should increase as it goes up the line.

As a death notification NCO and officer during Vietnam several times I was asked, “How did it happen?” Each time I told them what I knew – which was almost always only date, time, place and “as a result of enemy action.” When I was pushed, as I was at least twice, about the manner and character of the death, reply “he died a hero in defense of our freedom.”

Now, that being said, “friendly fire” deaths are going to happen. And, I believe the NOK have a right to have all of their questions answered truthfully, after a full investigation. Also, I believe that Pat Tillman died a hero in defense of our freedom.

At least that’s the way this old soldier sees it.

WOPA! If you have to ask, you wouldn’t understand! And, if I told you … well you know how that goes. Cool

The REASON for this is the way the Military leadership attempted to coverup the reason for Tilman's death and the attempts by the Admin. USE his death for political gain.

You are missing the point. Its not WHAT they are doing, rather, it the WAY they are doing it that is the problem.

I stand by my earlier statements.

And I assert there is no evidence to support your comment.

There IS evidence that the Army improperly delayed notification of the Tillman family of the fratricide pending completion of the (multiple) investigations being carried out.

Dear “SgtSchaeffersMom” anyone who miss interpreted your post is just trying to with your words to justify their own misguided position. I have read many of your posting – you are always on target.

You and your family are heroes.
