I think its great that the young Marine received his award for his bravery but on the other hand I think it is sad and a poor example set by the Corps in waiting two years to recognize this young warrior.
Thank you for what you did for Sgt. Wimberg. I had the privilege to serve alongside Dave. He was a excellent Marine and he will never be forgotten. Bravo Zulu Marine. You deserve it.
Congratulations, Marine. As usual, the armed forces are in an awards SNAFU situation a lot of times. I received my Bronze Star for Desert Storm "only" 10 years later. I am still angry.
Sgt Hunter , Thank you for your service . I am proud of you for a job well done you deserve the award you have recieved . we need more marines like you in the military .
What a inspiring story of what America and Honor should continue to respect our country's History. Loyality. I'm the wife of a totally disabled Vietnam Veteran and thank you all for sharing this story. I pray for our troops, my son-in-law was a Marine for 11 years, tried to get outside job to support his family and ended up signing on for Army National and was deployed a few weeks ago. Soon he will hit Iraq and hopefully follow in this gentlemens footsteps and all those others who may be unsung heros as the humble Military man I know feels aaceepting the award. God Bless and Come home safely all of you. Janet DiGiusto Plymouth Ma.
Admiral Nimitz said of the Marines fighting on Iwo Jima in February of 1945: "Uncommon valor was a common virtue". It seems to me that uncommon valor is still a common virtue in the Marine Corps today. Ordinary men stepping up to overcome extraordinary circumstances. In his mind he did nothing extraordinary. One can only wonder how many lives he saved by taking the actions he took. I raise my glass to him.
Glad you are home safe and sound. What you did and the way things have turned out are the stories we need in the newspapers and on the television. Something that tells of the horrors of war, the people that live them, the bravery and honor of the military, and how good people go through bad times and make the best of the world they find them selves in. God Bless us all, and God Bless the United States of America.
I used to drill at one of the Reserve Centers part of Lima Co drilled at... They were hit really hard in the middle of 2005 and lost lots of good, young Marines (including a guy I went to high school with). It's nice to see some recognition.
