The AF already has the CV-22 and the Navy will eventually have the HV and SV.

having read about the incidents it seems all issues have been addressed... what new aircraft didn't have problems at the get go?

“I’ve never been scared enough where I seriously thought I was going to die from the aircraft,”

Wow - what a rousing endorsement.

the problem was simple, foward motion created a vacuum of air that when the propellers went vertical (like a heli) there was nothing for the craft to hover on. Now that pilots know to avoid this there wont be as many problems.

I think this is a very good bird. I hated the helos so small and you never knew if you were going to get hit by a rocket or just shot at from a roof top cus they don't get up in the air. and they can't carry the whole quad. So i'm ready for this new one.

Hey Phillystake, did you know that your avatar is from a famous WWII Marine Corps recruitment poster? Thought you might like to know that little fact. Roll Eyes

Read replys before posting this one and there are a few here that are taking up good space!

Good luck with this copter, just don't use it to drop off supplies to the embassy in Iraq until it is also used as a resort and for rest and relaxzation (R&R) for our deployed fighting troops;

According to the Congressional research Center this needed troop surge has "increased the cost of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan to 12 billion a month, plus other minor costs". Add to that 592 million for the massive US Embassy due to be fully operational in August. Senate staffers report; out of the 4000 living on the compound 1000 are American, many Iraq politicians, protection contractors and the local staff has a yearly cost of at least 1.2 billion! The residence here has fresh fruits salads, Turkey, fish, yogurt and Baskin Robbins ice cream shipped from the United States. How much is this delivery convoy costing every seven to 10 days? Why are our deployed troops the ones eating the ready-made meals?

Nothing personal against our contracted-out support staff.

As has been repeated in the press ad nausea, this highly advanced totally new technology laden aircraft has had a long and painful gestation. Hopefully the problems have been solved and the greatly advanced capabilities it provides the users will finally silence the critics. I certainly remember the CH-53e dropping out of the sky on a regular basis when they first hung the 3rd engine on it. And who can forget how the MBT which evolved into the M-1 was considered to be such a boondoggle by many self appointed experts? Good thing the Army persevered or you tankers would still be riding around in M-60s.

263 is my old squadron. I have to hope all works out well with this bird. Guess one side or the other, pro or con will be silenced come September.

If you're trying to explain the physics of VRS you are quite mistaken.

This is the worst aircraft made by my employer's other division and certainly may end production before any in recent history.

Our division has made almost a dozen new models of aircraft since 1999 and NOT ONE HAVE HAD ANYTHING CLOSE TO THE SEVERE MALFUNCTIONS OF THE DISGRACED OFFSPREY!!!

I'm embarassed even to admit any of our divisions make this disgrace to technology, and wish the military commanders had more control over such disgraces as this and the j-pats and the HORRIFIC T1.

If the commanders had the final say no OFFSPREY NO T1 AND NO J-PATS would exist at the payoffs to the like of Bob Dole.

I think that it is a shame that so many of our boys had to die while waiting for the Osprey to be proven safe.
