What kills my soul is that when I was in the Army way back when (like from the 60's to the80's)I remember carrying a weapon that Mattal toy makers made for the Army that cost 50 Dollars. and look at some of the other weapons from other countrys the ak-47 for one stamped metal and hard to jam.a very reliable weapon.just who are the senators try to help the service members or their pocket book.
If a tree falls in a forest and lands on a politician, even if you can't hear the tree or the screams, I'll bet you'd at least hear the applause. Paul Tindale

mattel did not manufacture m16's and they did not cost
Mattel did not mfg m16's and they didnot cost $50.-----back to the subject. Competition is good. the m92 pistol was was selected by competition, and it was from Italy , it was eventualy mfg in the USA. The problem with the M92 is not that it was a not a US design , Its problem was that We d required it to be a 9mm cal. and not the 45cal of our past. Now is the time to open our eyes and quite trying to evolve the m16 series further but have a competition for a new rifle and specify that it have a more powerful round. as long as the service rifle evolves around the courrent 5.56 round it will be lacking. Colt would have a very good chance of winning this competition but with a all new design.
