I think it's crazy to continue to close military bases because of money issues. Here's a ideal for you. Business 101 suggest keeping your money circulateing in your own community. Why not allow retirees, certain percentage disable veterans, and civilians base workers live in base houseing. Build new barricks and houseing for the military soldiers. Renovate old barracks to apartments, old enlisted and officer houseing to condo's, and any house's on post belonging to senior elisted or officer's. You also can be creative and renovate old WWII baracks to houseing. Everybody I'm speaking of already have military I.D. cards and access to military installations. Add a few quality of life like access to base medical clinics, hospital use, build day care and schools, and anything else that a small city would have. The point is keeping DOD, SSA, VA, and any other money spent on that installations. I know a lot of study has to go into this ideal. I think in the long run some form of this ideal will work. I like to know what you and others think? Remember you always have an option whether you want live on base or not.
